Finally, the Long Weekend!

Does "contour lines" as a style = "hallucinatory?" Kind of astonishing how an image can be lighthearted and unsettling at the same time.

Actually the key keyword for this series is the lengthy 'Process: Blind left drawing with sighted right painting' which translates to I'm drawing with my left hand even though I'm right-handed, and my eyes are closed - so I'm not only not looking at a subject, I can't know for sure where I am on the paper. Then I paint it in the normal way - eyes open and right-handed.

Contour lines means I'm drawing those dark 'outlines' but they outline not just the outsides of things but the shapes along the inside, ie you draw a line along the contour of a muscle across the width of the arm, not just the outline of the outside of the arms. Contour line is a sort of fall-back style for me, ie I'm very comfortable and fluent with it. I'm less confident defining form with just the brush and no line. But of course we see some of that in this project, too.

I keep the last 40 drawings up on my wall and I wanted to see a row of these weird things so I've done 10. Theoretically tomorrow I'm on to something else, but we'll see....
