Today’s double portrait is of Spanish Artist & Architect Joan Ramon Farré Burzuri & Italian Artist and Physician, Giorgio Bordin. I don’t believe they’ve ever met, but like me they’ve indulged at pointing the camera at the mirror to take pictures of themselves. I enjoyed drawing from these photos so much I got inspired to upload some past self-portrait photos taken this way with a variety of cameras.

On the left is Spanish Artist & Architect Joan Ramon Farré Burzuri. Whether depicting highly detailed and intimate interiors, sweeping land and cityscapes or friends and portrait party artists, Joan has a sure hand for line, light, wash – and emotion. I want to wander down the streets he paints and know the people he portrays.

On the right is Italian Artist and Physician, Giorgio Bordin. I was quite interested to discover that Giorgio is co-author of a soon to be published book on Medicine in Art ( www.amazon.com/Medicine-Guide-Imagery-Giorgio-Bordin/dp/1… ), of particular interest to me as I have recently started a flickr group on this very subject: www.flickr.com/groups/1493246@N22/ He is also the second artist/physician I know of at the Portrait Party, the other is Spaniard Luis Peso (http://www.flickr.com/photos/35052681@N05/).

Giorgio himself is a fine draftsman and watercolorist, equally at home creating images of ephemeral and breezy foliage on location and portraits from photos with strong graphical qualities, great expression and likenesses. Oh, yes, he’s also a terrific photographer with an excellent sense of composition and tonal values.
