I’m on to a more varied daily art practice. March-April 2010, I intend to draw a different contemporary artist every day.

Today’s artist is Sandy Schmidt, also known as Blue Sky Day. She’s a fabulous photographer and digital artist, with a wry sense of humor. She’s also the organizer and Top Dog of the IPhone/iTouch subect/artist each week group on flickr, which I’ve long been a member of without realizing it was her hand behind the scenes making it happen. Last, she has a wonderful series of paintings of her black and white cat Ed, ranging from realistic to cartoon, which seem sort of analogous to my Daily Portrait Project in that she’ll put him in a variety of scenes and situations, paint him in a variety of styles, and generally use him as needed to tell the tale she wants to tell.
