July 2010: I intend to continue to profile contemporary artists once or twice a week. On the other days, I intend to draw… whatever I darn well feel like!

Today’s portrait is of English artist Frank Bingley. Frank is a watercolorist and photographer with a great eye for light and patterns in nature, and a strong ability to capture expression and likeness in portraits. In my case, I didn’t get a strong likeness – Frank looks to be a much sweeter man in his photos than I’ve portrayed him here. However, I did have fun working from his very dramatic photo.

You can see Frank’s artwork on his flickr imagestream: www.flickr.com/photos/frankbingley/

We’re having a Portrait Party on flickr – almost 300 artists drawing each other! Here is Frank’s portrait of me from the party. If you’re an artist who’d like to draw/paint other flickr artists, please join the Portrait Party at: www.flickr.com/groups/portraitparty/
