July 2010: I intend to continue to profile contemporary artists once or twice a week. On the other days, I intend to draw… whatever I darn well feel like!

Today’s portrait is of German artist Peter Vanayk. I enjoy his light-handed take on the world around him, in mostly monochrome with well-placed touches of color. We get to go where he goes, carrying his sketchbook and jotting down his view of waiting rooms and train cars, portraits of people and portraits of buildings.

You can see Peter’s artwork on his flickr imagestream: www.flickr.com/photos/petervanayk/

Photos of Peter and other artists’ portraits of him can be seen here: www.flickr.com/groups/portraitparty/discuss/7215762393422…

J.K. Queen of heartsWe’re having a Portrait Party on flickr – almost 300 artists drawing each other! Here is Peter’s portrait of me from the party. If you’re an artist who’d like to draw/paint other flickr artists, please join the Portrait Party at: www.flickr.com/groups/portraitparty/
