Inspire has an option for color selection where you have a grid of the last 80 colors you used. The transparency is saved with the color.

I made this by going to the color grid, closing my eyes, putting my finger down to randomly pick a color, opening my eyes to navigate back to the ‘paper’, closing my eyes, drawing awhile, opening my eyes, going back to the grid, closing eyes to pick color, etc, until I decided it was done (eyes open for decision). I rejected the chosen color once as too close to the color I had just been using. I switched brushes once – from round to fan – eyes open.

Well, there are things that bug me about this but here it is :)

There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place…
(But when’s my next trip?)

A different Mariott, three years later – same carpet in the hallways – a much more literal interpretation than last time.

You don’t see it here, but my socks still don’t match!

The Marriot is a big chain and their fabrics arem’t nearly as much fun as those at the independent motor court where we stayed last night. This was not a traditional bedspread but a psuedo Chinese/Tibetan decorative runner across the foot of the bed. Here it’s resting on the pink polka dot mini couch.

Last night we stayed at the delightful Peach Tree Inn in San Luis Obispo, central California, USA. It’s an independently owned motor-court motel. Everything was just right, from the glider outside our door to the birdfeeders on the deck facing the hills – and there was a luciously elaborate pattern on the bedspread. I haven’t actually tried to copy it in either of these, but just riff on my impression.

It wasn’t this pink, but it works for the painting.

I’m going to be on the road and at family events for the next 7-10 days with limited internet… I’ll still be drawing every day but I may not be able to post and comment every day. “see you” when I get back!
